| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in purple and violet tones on a light guilloche underprint. At right, an intaglio vignette portrays Melchor Pérez de Holguín, the colonial Bolivian painter, in period dress with a wide-brimmed hat, his name captioned below. The centre carries the large bold legends CINCUENTA BOLIVIANOS flanked by the numeral 50 at lower left, with the Bolivian coat of arms rendered in an ornate circular vignette at centre-left.
