| Additional information |
Produced under the Free French administration during the Vichy-Allied split, this issue dates to a period when French Equatorial Africa and Cameroon were among the first French territories to rally to de Gaulle — Cameroon's governor Richard Brunot declared for the Free French in August 1940. Bronze coinage continued under the French Équatoriale umbrella precisely because the territory needed functional small change while cut off from metropolitan French supply chains.
