| Obverse description | Central field depicts a steamship underway on choppy waters, rendered in fine relief, with a sailing vessel and an anchor prominently displayed to the right. Birds in flight appear in the upper field behind the ship. The engraver's signature 'J. BORY' appears in small letters at lower left, and the date '1920' is struck in large numerals along the lower portion of the field. The curved legend 'HAUT-SÉNÉGAL.NIGER' arcs along the upper border of the octagonal flan. |
