| Obverse description | The Peruvian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield with a vicuna at upper left, a cinchona tree at upper right, and a cornucopia at the base. The shield is surmounted by a civic wreath and flanked on both sides by sprays of palm and laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon. The date 1855 appears in the lower exergue.
