The Bahamas 50 Cent note has always occupied an awkward commercial position — too small a denomination to circulate widely by the time this 2001 date appeared, yet retained in the series for vending and transit use. De La Rue's long relationship with the Central Bank of the Bahamas dates to independence in 1973, and this issue continues that unbroken contract.
P#68 is the final substantive revision of the 50 Cent type before the denomination effectively fell out of everyday use in the islands.
