Malaya's wartime small-denomination notes were overprinted and reissued under Japanese occupation, but the P#10 series predates that — these were printed in London and shipped to the colony before the December 1941 Japanese invasion severed supply lines entirely. The timing is tight enough that some notes from this issue never reached circulation before the fall of Singapore in February 1942.

Large quantities were captured, destroyed, or rendered irrelevant almost immediately. Genuinely pre-occupation examples that avoided the chaos of those months are harder to confirm than the catalog numbers suggest.
