This note was issued in 1979, the year the Sandinista revolution overthrew Somoza — a fact that complicates its status. The Banco Central continued issuing Somoza-era De La Rue printed notes into the transition period, and P#136 circulated under both the outgoing regime and the incoming revolutionary government before new Sandinista-branded issues eventually replaced the inherited stock.

Thomas De La Rue's involvement was standard for Nicaraguan issues of this period, the relationship predating the revolution by decades.
