| Obverse description | The official Seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands occupies the central field, depicting a traditional Marshallese sailing canoe on water, a frigate bird in flight, and a sun with radiating rays at centre, all enclosed within a decorative chain border. The outer legend reads REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS along the upper arc, with the denomination $50 to the left and the date 1989 to the right. The national motto JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN appears along the lower arc in the field. The design is rendered in high relief with a mirror-like proof finish. |
