Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King George I facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and sideburns in the mature second portrait style engraved by Barre. The circumferential Greek legend reads ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ Α! ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ, distributed around the periphery within a beaded border. The engraver's name ΒΑΡΡΕ appears incuse on the truncation, with the date 1876 and the Paris mint mark A positioned in the lower exergual area.

Reverse description The Royal Arms of Greece, comprising a shield bearing a plain Greek cross on a horizontally striped field, displayed within an ermine-lined royal mantle surmounted by a royal crown and tied at the base with a tassel. A scroll beneath the shield bears the motto ΙΣΧΥΣ ΜΟΥ Η ΑΓΑΠΗ ΤΟΥ ΛΑΟΥ (My Strength is the Love of the People). The circular legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ arcs around the upper field, while the denomination 50 ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ is inscribed along the lower periphery, all within a beaded border.
