P#38 spans a surprisingly long print run — eight years across a period when the Swazi lilangeni remained pegged 1:1 to the South African rand, a monetary arrangement dating to the Common Monetary Area agreement that has kept Swaziland's currency policy tightly bound to Pretoria regardless of political independence. Giesecke & Devrient have handled Swazi banknote production for multiple series, and the Leipzig plant's work here includes colour-shifting ink, a feature that appeared on this denomination ahead of lower values in the series.
Two signature combinations are documented under P#38, reflecting a change in central bank leadership across the issue period.
