| Obverse description | Gold-plated foil reproduction of the first series 50 Euro note, rendered entirely in tones of gold. The right half carries a vignette of a Renaissance-style architectural facade with arched windows and columned entrance, surrounded by fine guilloche underprint of vertical line patterns. A semicircle of twelve stars occupies the upper centre, and the large numeral '50' appears in the upper right corner alongside a smaller denomination numeral within a shaded cartouche at lower right. The legend 'EURO / ΕΥΡΩ' is inscribed at the lower left. |

Not a banknote. This is a gold-plated foil novelty item produced by various private manufacturers — most commonly German and Dutch souvenir companies — to coincide with the euro cash changeover in January 2002. It has no legal tender status, was never issued by the European Central Bank or any national central bank, and carries no monetary value whatsoever.
These pieces circulate freely on secondary markets, frequently mislabeled as "rare" or "commemorative." They are not. No catalog number applies.
