Aruba separated from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986 with a promised path to full independence that was later suspended indefinitely — leaving the island in a permanent "Status Aparte" within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Centrale Bank van Aruba was established at that moment of separation, and its banknote series has been produced by Enschedé ever since, a logical choice given the Dutch institutional relationship.

Evelino Fingal's design credit is notable — local designers on Caribbean currency are far from universal, and Fingal's involvement across the Aruban series gives it a deliberate visual identity tied to the island rather than outsourced wholesale to the printer's standard portfolio.
