Comments

The Banque du Royaume du Burundi was a short-lived institution, operating only between independence in 1962 and the abolition of the monarchy in 1966 following the coup that deposed Mwami Ntare V. Notes issued under the royal bank were quickly superseded by those of the Banque de la République du Burundi, and the entire royal series was withdrawn from circulation within months of the regime change.

The 1964–1966 date range reflects staggered issue rather than a long print run — the political situation made extended distribution impractical. Surviving examples with visible circulation wear are uncommon precisely because the notes were in active use for such a brief window before redemption.
