Comments

The Belgian Army's own payment vouchers occupied a peculiar institutional space: issued not by the National Bank but by the Service des Fonds de l'Armée, they circulated exclusively within military canteens, messes, and garrison pay systems in the immediate postwar period. This prevented soldiers from injecting occupation-era scrip or black-market currency into the recovering civilian economy — a genuine administrative concern in Belgium in 1946, where monetary confidence was still fragile following the Gutt currency reform of October 1944.

These notes were never legal tender and were redeemable only through military channels, which kept civilian hoarding minimal. Surviving examples tend to show hard use.
