Antalócz was one of the Austro-Hungarian prisoner-of-war camp complexes administered under the k.u.k. War Ministry's industrial labor groups — the 12th Department specifically oversaw the organization of prisoner labor for wartime industrial production. Camp scrip of this type was issued to allow POWs to make purchases within the camp canteen system while preventing Austrian currency from circulating among the prisoner population or leaking outside the wire.
The issuing authority's full name — Industriegruppe der 12. Abt. des k. u. k. Kriegsministeriums — makes this one of the more precisely documented WWI camp issues, which is not always the case with Lagergeld of this period. Campbell 1306 is the sole standard reference point for collectors.
