Obverse description Diademed and tiaraed effigy of Queen Margrethe II facing right, with hair arranged in an upswept coiffure, wearing drop earrings and a pearl necklace. The surrounding legend reads 'MARGRETHE II DANMARKS DRONNING' along the periphery within a beaded border. The mint master's initials 'R' and engraver's initials 'B', separated by a heart symbol, appear in the lower field beneath the truncation.

Reverse description The crowned royal arms of Denmark displayed at center, supported on either side by two wild men (savages) standing erect and facing inward, each holding a club. The word 'PRØVE' (proof/pattern) is inscribed vertically to the left of the left-hand supporter. Below the arms, the date '1983' flanks the Order of the Elephant chain device, with the denomination '50 KRONER' inscribed in a bold arc along the lower periphery within a beaded border.
