Obverse description Intaglio portrait of the Baroque poet Ivan Gundulić (1589–1638) at right center, rendered in fine engraved detail with a curled period wig; the large numeral "50" in multicolor guilloche underprint occupies the lower left, alongside an optically variable denomination device. The Croatian coat of arms and a decorative kuna denomination vignette appear in the upper left, with verse text from Gundulić's epic poem "Osman" forming a microprint underprint across the center field. The issuer inscription "HRVATSKA NARODNA BANKA" and value "PEDESET KUNA" are printed vertically along the left margin.

Reverse description A detailed intaglio panoramic view of the walled city of Dubrovnik dominates the center, rendered as a bird's-eye perspective showing the old town peninsula enclosed by its medieval fortifications. In the lower left, a separate vignette presents the facade of the Sponza Palace (Divona), a Gothic-Renaissance landmark of Dubrovnik. The denomination numeral "50" in guilloche appears at lower right, with wavy-line underprint in teal and gold across the lower field, and a color-shifting OVI square at upper center right.
