| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Moshoeshoe II facing right, wearing traditional Basotho attire including a decorative headband adorned with a feather and an ornamental necklace with pendant. The truncation is signed by the engraver A. COLOMBO in small letters in the left field. The surrounding legend reads BOIPUSO LESOTHO INDEPENDENCE in the upper arc and MOSHOESHOE along the lower arc, all separated by a beaded inner border, with the entire design framed by a reeded outer rim. |
