Thomas De La Rue printed several Turkish series during the mid-twentieth century, a relationship rooted in the Ottoman period when foreign security printers were practically the only option for high-denomination notes requiring intaglio work. The Central Bank of Turkey continued using De La Rue well into the Republican era, partly for technical capacity and partly because domestic printing infrastructure remained limited for large-format security work.
Without a confirmed emission date, placing this note within a specific monetary episode is not possible. Turkey's 50 Lira denomination crossed several significant inflation thresholds across different series — which one this represents matters considerably to its history.
