The Falkland Islands issued this piece to mark the 1982 conflict, during which Argentine forces occupied the islands for 74 days. Nighttime blackouts were enforced across Stanley throughout the occupation — residents were ordered to cover windows to prevent light from guiding British naval movements during the campaign to retake the islands. It is a local detail that rarely surfaces in broader histories of the war.
