| Reverse description | The full Arms of Saint Helena occupy the central field, comprising a shield divided per fess: the upper portion bearing a wire-bird (wirebird) passant, and the lower portion depicting a three-masted sailing ship on a sea. The shield is surmounted by a mural crown, upon which stands a half-figure of Saint Helena holding a cross and a lily. The shield is supported on either side by elaborate foliate mantling. Below the shield, a scroll bears the motto LOYAL & UNSHAKEABLE. The commemorative legend 150th. ANNIVERSARY: COLONY OF ST. HELENA arcs around the upper field, flanked by the dates 1834 and 1984 in the lower field. |
