The American Bank Note Company held Colombia's major printing contracts for much of the mid-twentieth century, and this series reflects that long relationship — the intaglio work is characteristic of ABNC's Colombian output from the period, produced at their Broad Street facility in New York. The note ran for fourteen years across multiple date varieties, a span that itself tells you something about the relative monetary stability Colombia maintained despite the political violence of La Violencia engulfing the country through much of the same period.
Later dates in the series are considerably scarcer in circulated grades, as wartime paper stocks from earlier printings proved more durable than postwar issues.
