Additional information

Uruguay's 2011 coinage reforms consolidated several denominations into cheaper copper-plated steel as the Central Bank addressed the cost of producing coins whose metal value had crept uncomfortably close to face value. The 50 Pesos Uruguayos sat at the upper end of the circulating series and saw heavy use in everyday transactions as Uruguay's economy expanded through the early 2010s on the back of commodity exports and sustained GDP growth.

KM#139 is not known for notable die varieties or production anomalies.
