| Obverse description | Central vignette of Al-Azhar Mosque (al-Jāmiʿ al-ʾAzhar) in Islamic Cairo, rendered with its characteristic minarets and courtyard façade. The mosque, commissioned by the Fatimid caliph al-Muʿizz li-Dīn Allāh in 970 CE and named in allusion to Fāṭimah al-Zahrāʾ, is presented against a tonal underprint with Arabic and numerical denomination inscriptions framing the composition. |
