The "without border" designation distinguishes this from the later bordered version of the same series — a printing variation rather than a separate issue, the two types circulating simultaneously long enough to generate genuine collector interest. Thomas De La Rue handled the entire Ang Bagong Lipunan series for the Bangko Sentral, a contract relationship that predated Marcos's 1972 declaration of martial law and continued well into the New Society period.

Watermark-only security on a note of this denomination reflects the transitional thinking of the early 1970s, before the BSP moved toward more layered anti-counterfeiting measures in subsequent series.
