| Obverse description | Right-facing bust of Archbishop Makarios III, depicted wearing his distinctive tall Orthodox clerical hat (kalimavkion) and ecclesiastical vestments with a pectoral chain visible at the neckline, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail engraved by Basil Phalireas. The legend ΑΡΧΙΕΠ•ΜΑΚΑΡΙΟΣ curves along the left field, while ΠΡΟΕΔΡΟΣ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑΣ ΚΥΠΡΟΥ arcs along the right periphery.
