A fantasy or novelty piece with no issuing authority, legal tender status, or monetary function of any kind. "Furnas" appears to reference the volcanic caldera lake on São Miguel Island in the Azores — an unusual choice of subject for a British-denominated fantasy note, and one that raises more questions than the piece can answer.
