| Obverse description | Central square cartouche bearing the Arabic numeral denomination 50 (٥٠) above the word 'Qirsha' (قرشا), framed by elaborate arabesque scrollwork and foliate ornamental devices. The circular legend 'الجمهورية العربية السورية' (Syrian Arab Republic) runs along the upper periphery in Arabic script. Two wheat sprigs frame the lower portion of the design, their stalks crossing below the central cartouche. The dual dates AH 1387 and AD 1968 appear in Arabic-Indic numerals beneath the cartouche, separated by a dash. The coin border features a distinctive square-toothed or crenellated decorative rim. |
