| Reverse description | The central field displays the denomination in both Eastern Arabic-Indic numerals (٥٠) and the Arabic word 'قرش' (qirsh/piastres) above, with the Western numeral '50' and the Latin inscription '50 PIASTRES' below, all within a plain recessed circle. Surrounding the central denomination device is an elaborate arabesque frieze of intertwining foliate scrollwork filling the inner field. The Arabic legend 'دولة سورية' (State of Syria) occupies the upper portion of the coin within the arabesque band, while the French legend 'ETAT DE SYRIE' is inscribed along the lower arc in raised Latin capitals. The entire design is enclosed by a serrated or milled outer border echoing that of the obverse. |
