Belarus redenominated in July 2016, lopping four zeros off all values — this 50 Rouble note is therefore equivalent to the old 500,000 Rouble denomination, a figure that had become routine in everyday transactions after years of accumulated inflation. The 2020 date reflects a periodic refreshing of the series rather than a new issue cycle, with Goznak in Moscow continuing the printing relationship that Belarus has maintained since independence.

Security specification on this note is modest — watermark and thread only, without the polymer substrate or optically variable ink that appeared on higher denominations in the same redenominated family.
