Obverse description The right portion of the obverse is dominated by an intaglio-printed vignette of a Kandyan dancer in profile, wearing an elaborate traditional headdress with layered ornaments and beaded jewelry, rendered in deep red-brown tones against a multicolour guilloche underprint in blue, orange, and teal. The upper band carries the bank title in Sinhala script, while the centre field bears trilingual inscriptions in Sinhala, Tamil, and English identifying the issuing authority, the denomination in Sinhala script, and two facsimile signatures with their titles. A lotus flower motif appears at the lower left, and the numeral "50" is placed in the upper left and lower right corners within guilloche panels.

Reverse description The upper portion of the reverse carries a large guilloche medallion with the numeral "50" set within a stylised bo-leaf surround at the upper left, flanked by two butterflies on flowering branches in soft yellow-green tones, set against a plain reserve area serving as the watermark zone. The central vignette presents an intaglio rendering of an ornate ceremonial shield or drumhead decorated with a makara (mythical sea creature) motif in dark blue, set before a landscape background with a rocky outcrop, a dagoba stupa, and ancient temple architecture rendered in pale green and ochre tones. Trilingual bank title inscriptions appear at the top of the lower panel, and the denomination in Tamil and English is lettered at the bottom, with the printer's imprint along the lower margin.
