The 1983 series marked the Central Bank of Seychelles' consolidation of note production under a single contractor, with the American Bank Note Company handling the full run. ABNC's characteristic deep intaglio register was well-suited to the archipelago's issues, which needed to hold up in a humid tropical climate — a practical consideration that influenced paper specification decisions for several island-nation clients during this period.
