| Obverse description | Central field depicts a detailed frontal view of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, rendered with fine architectural precision showing the triple-eaved circular structure, surrounding balustrades, and ceremonial stairway. The legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) curves along the upper border in raised Chinese characters within a wide flat rim. The date 2026 is inscribed in Arabic numerals at the base of the inner circle, below the architectural motif. |

The 2026 issue continues China's Panda gold series, launched in 1982 as one of the first bullion programs to change its reverse design annually — a deliberate strategy by the People's Bank of China to drive collector demand alongside investment buying. That annual-change policy was briefly interrupted in 2001 and 2002, when identical designs were used across both years, generating significant controversy among collectors and a lasting premium on the 2001-dated pieces.
