Reverse description The reverse presents the multi-faceted underside of the heart-shaped coin, with the gold surface divided into a series of precisely angled geometric facets radiating from a central point, faithfully replicating the pavilion of an Ideal Cut Heart Diamond. The polished .9999 fine gold surfaces create a gradient of light and shadow across the facets, accentuating the three-dimensional sculptural quality of the design. No additional legends or devices appear on this face, allowing the architectural precision of the faceted form to stand as the sole decorative element.

Additional information

The Royal Canadian Mint has produced diamond-set bullion pieces since the 2010s, but this issue marks the first use of a heart-cut diamond in the series — a departure from the round brilliant stones used in earlier iterations. The 0.23 ct. Ideal Cut designation follows the American Gem Society's grading standard, which requires specific light-performance benchmarks rather than simply proportional measurements.

Charles III's accession in September 2022 triggered an extensive re-tooling across all Commonwealth mint programs. This piece belongs to the first wave of Canadian gold issues produced under his effigy.
