The National Liberation Front issued this bond — not a circulating banknote — as a mechanism for raising funds within liberated zones of South Vietnam. The distinction mattered politically: the NLF was positioning itself as a parallel government, and denominated bonds gave that claim a financial dimension the Saigon regime could not easily dismiss. Whether these instruments ever paid interest or were redeemed is largely undocumented.
Printed resources available to the NLF in 1964 were severely limited, which shows in the production values of the series.
