Obverse description At left, an intaglio portrait vignette of David Ben-Gurion, first Prime Minister of Israel, faces right; to the right of the portrait, a vignette of the library at Kibbutz Sde Boker is rendered in fine line engraving against a multicolour guilloche underprint. The denomination "Five Hundred Israeli Pounds" and the issuer name "Bank of Israel" appear in Hebrew, with the Hebrew date התשל״ה and the Gregorian year 1975 also inscribed.
