| Obverse description | Central device depicts a highly detailed frontal elevation of That Luang (Pha That Luang), the great golden stupa of Vientiane and national symbol of Laos, rendered in fine relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The monument is shown with its characteristic multi-tiered base, ornamental spires, and elaborately decorated entrance gate flanked by lamp standards and floral offerings. The curved legend BANK OF THE LAO PDR arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 500 KIP is inscribed in large characters along the lower border. The metallic specifications 20g and Ag 999 appear in the left and right fields respectively, and a continuous beaded border frames the entire design. |
