Reverse description The reverse carries a central intaglio vignette of Akershus Castle set within an elaborate architectural and heraldic composition. To the left of the castle, an engraved head of a Viking king is positioned, while to the right the royal arms of Norway are surrounded by the coats of arms of the six Norwegian bishoprics — Christiania, Bergen, Hamar, Trondheim, Kristiansand, and Tromsø — arranged in a decorative frieze. The composition is enclosed within ornate scroll and interlace borders consistent with the obverse design.
