The Faroese 500 Krónur series was designed by Zacharias Heinesen, one of the Faroe Islands' most celebrated painters — an unusual choice that gave the notes a distinctly artistic character rather than the engraved formality typical of Scandinavian currency. The Løgting issues its own banknotes independently of Denmark, though the Faroese króna is pegged at par to the Danish krone and Danish notes circulate freely alongside them.
The "thin security thread" designation distinguishes this from later printings of the same P#27 type, making the thread specification a primary identification point for collectors differentiating between issues of the same face design and date.
