Bradbury Wilkinson printed extensively for Francophone and Lusophone African states in the 1970s and 1980s, and this note is one of the final commissions placed before the firm was absorbed into De La Rue in 1990. Guinea-Bissau had only been internationally recognized since 1974, following the PAIGC's long guerrilla campaign against Portuguese rule, and the Banco Nacional was still consolidating its note-issuing function when this 500 Pesos series was produced.
The printer credit on the note reads "Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. (Inglaterra)" — the Portuguese-language suffix a small but deliberate nod to the issuing country's Lusophone identity rather than the firm's usual anglophone self-identification.
