| Additional information |
Farquhar Atoll sits at the southern edge of Seychelles' outer islands, roughly 700 km from Mahé, and spent much of the 20th century administered separately under the British Indian Ocean Territory before reverting to Seychelles at independence in 1976. It remains one of the least populated atolls in the Indian Ocean — the permanent population rarely exceeds a few dozen people engaged in copra production and fishing.
Silver-plated copper-nickel issues of this type are typically aimed squarely at the collectibles market rather than circulation, a format that became increasingly common among small island nations after the 2010s as a lower-cost alternative to solid silver issues.
