Obverse description The right portion of the note carries an intaglio vignette of the National Martyrs' Monument (Jatiyo Smriti Soudho) at Savar, its soaring triangular spires rising above a reflecting pool with figures gathered at the base. A blank watermark window occupies the left field, framed by elaborate floral and bird guilloche ornamentation in the side borders and lotus motifs along the lower margin. The denomination '500' appears in Bengali numerals at the upper left and in Western numerals at the upper right, with the bank name legend in Bengali centred along the top.

Comments

The P#34 series was introduced as Bangladesh Bank moved to consolidate higher-denomination notes in the late 1990s, a period when inflation had steadily eroded the practical ceiling of everyday transactions. The 500 Taka filled a genuine gap in the circulating stock rather than serving any ceremonial function.

The print date of 30 April 1945 in the catalog data is almost certainly a keying error — Bangladesh did not exist as an independent state until 1971.
