| Obverse description | Central field features the arms of the Bank of Mongolia enclosed within an ornate ogival cartouche surmounted by a flame finial, with the cursive Cyrillic legend МОНГОЛ БАНК (Bank of Mongolia) inscribed below the device and an ornamental flourish beneath. The denomination 500 ТӨГРӨГ appears in bold relief in the lower central field. Traditional Mongolian script legends flank the central cartouche to the left and right. The lower border bears the inscriptions MONGOLIA, 25gr, and 925 SILVER in Latin characters. The entire design is enclosed within a reeded border of alternating triangular and rectangular denticles. |

Issued to commemorate Naidangiin Tuvshinbayar's gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics — Mongolia's first-ever Olympic gold — this coin appeared while the athlete was still in his twenties and the victory still fresh. Tuvshinbayar won in judo, the men's 100 kg class, defeating the Georgian favorite Irakli Tsirekidze in the final.
