| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Gabon at centre, featuring a shield supported by two rampant black panthers and surmounted by a tree with laurel branches; the shield bears three discs above and a sailing ship below, with a scroll at the base inscribed UNION TRAVAIL JUSTICE. The legend RÉPUBLIQUE GABONAISE arcs along the upper periphery, with 999/1000 FINE GOLD below it in a secondary arc. The motto UNITI PROGREDIEMUR appears on a ribbon across the upper shield, and the mint mark SCM is visible to the lower left field.
