| Additional information |
The Bank of Central African States issues commemorative coinage on behalf of six member nations — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — under a currency union whose roots trace to the CFA franc system imposed by France in 1945. The BEAC itself was formally constituted in 1972. This piece belongs to a long-running wildlife series that has drawn consistent collector interest despite the issuing states having no particular historical association with tiger hunting.
Tigers are not native to Africa. The series title is essentially a commercial fiction directed at international bullion and numismatic markets.
