| Obverse description | Printed in red-brown intaglio on cream paper, the note carries the heading BANQUE DE FRANCE and a centred place-date line PARIS, le 08 Mai 1846 above the large denomination legend cinq mille francs. The central text panel is flanked by elaborate allegorical vignettes set within ornamental pilasters with foliate scrollwork, and two circular medallion vignettes at left and right contain classical figural scenes. Three manuscript signatures appear in the lower portion alongside registration entries inscribed au Registre de contrôle, with corner serial numbers and folio references completing the document-style layout. |
