| Reverse description | A detailed portrait of an African lion (Panthera leo) is depicted facing forward at center, rendered with fine engraving detail emphasizing the full mane and facial features, set against a plain polished field. A stylized outline map of the African continent appears in the right background. The series title AFRICAN WILDLIFE arcs prominently along the upper legend, with the species inscription African Lion positioned to the upper right of the portrait. The denomination 5000 KWACHA is inscribed along the lower rim, with the fineness notation 1 Oz Silver 999 appearing in smaller lettering immediately above it. |

| Additional information |
Zambia's use of the lion as a bullion coin subject is commercially driven — the country has no lion on its national coat of arms, and the choice reflects the broader "African wildlife" marketing strategy that emerged among several sub-Saharan mints partnering with European distributors in the 2010s. The 5000 Kwacha denomination is essentially notional; at any realistic exchange rate it bears no relationship to face value.
The series was produced for the international bullion and collector market rather than domestic circulation, with distribution handled primarily through dealers in Germany and the UK.
