The 5000 Meticais denomination was the highest value note in circulation during a period when Mozambique's economy was under severe strain — the FRELIMO government was fighting a protracted war against RENAMO, hyperinflationary pressure was building, and the metical itself had only been introduced in 1980 to replace the escudo at par. By the late 1980s, that parity was a distant memory.
The print date of 30 April 1945 is almost certainly a catalog or data entry error — that date predates Mozambican independence by three decades.
