Obverse description The obverse carries an intaglio composite portrait vignette of the six Niños Héroes (Child Heroes), associated with the Active Battalion of San Blas, arranged with formal symmetry across the face of the note above a fine guilloche underprint. Individual inscriptions identify the heroes, with Vicente Suárez and Juan Escutia named in the flanking registers. The National Emblem appears in association with the central vignette, reinforcing the commemorative character of the design.

(Translation: The Bank of Mexico 5000 Will Pay Five Thousand Pesos to the Bearer Vicente Suarez Juan Escutia)
Reverse description The reverse presents an intaglio engraving of Chapultepec Castle set against a detailed architectural background, positioned left of centre. To the right, the coat of arms of the Heroic Military College in its 1847 design is rendered in intaglio, providing historical context to the note's commemorative theme. Lettering identifying the castle and the issuing institution runs across the lower register.
