| Obverse description | Within a raised inner circle of evenly spaced pellets, the large interlaced GWC cipher monogram of the Geoctroyeerde Westindische Compagnie occupies the central field in bold relief, the letters G, W, and C intertwined in the characteristic Dutch East/West India Company style. The Roman numeral VI, denoting the denomination of six florins, is prominently struck above the monogram at the upper interior of the beaded circle. The field beyond the pellet border is plain, reflecting the characteristic irregular square klippe flan produced by hand-cutting. |
